The political controversy is deepening over the statement of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during the budget session of Parliament. The central government has decided to bring a breach of privilege notice against Rahul Gandhi. Giving information in this regard, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Rahul Gandhi has made serious and misleading allegations against the government and the Prime Minister in the House without any concrete evidence.
Kiren Rijiju told that in the House he had requested Rahul Gandhi to provide evidence in support of his claims, but he failed to do so. Despite this, he made serious allegations against the government and the Prime Minister of harming the national interests of the country.
In fact, during the discussion on the budget, Rahul Gandhi had alleged in his speech that the Prime Minister had compromised the national interests of the country and had said things like “selling” India. Apart from this, he had also made some serious allegations by taking the name of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The government says that these allegations are baseless, baseless and against the decorum of the House. In such a situation, it is a violation of the privileges of Parliament.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said-
He further said that many unparliamentary words and false statements were used in Rahul Gandhi’s speech, which should be expunged from the record.
Rijiju said that he will file a notice of breach of privilege before the Speaker of the Lok Sabha in this matter. He says that making such allegations by an MP without proof hurts the dignity of Parliament.
He said-
The government claims that those parts of Rahul Gandhi’s speech, in which unparliamentary words and false allegations have been used, will be removed from the proceedings of Parliament. This includes false statements, baseless allegations and offensive words.
After this development, the political atmosphere inside and outside the Parliament has become heated. The opposition is calling it an attempt to suppress criticism of the government, while the ruling party says that making allegations without proof is against democracy and parliamentary decorum.
Now the role of Lok Sabha Speaker will be important in this matter. After considering the notice, the Speaker will decide whether to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee or not. If the notice is accepted, Rahul Gandhi will get a chance to present his side.
At present, there is a possibility of confrontation and political rhetoric in Parliament regarding this issue becoming more intense.
