All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has achieved **6th position** worldwide in the **Brand Finance Global Top 250 Hospitals 2026** report released in early February 2026. This prestigious ranking evaluates academic medical centers based on brand strength derived from a survey of over 2,500 healthcare professionals and metrics from 500+ institutions.

AIIMS is behind just five big names: Johns Hopkins Medicine (1st, US), Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2nd, UK), Stanford University Medical Center (3rd, US), Mass General Brigham (4th, US), and Mayo Clinic Health System (5th, US). Its ranking reflects India’s growing stature in global healthcare, especially for a public institution providing high-volume care in low- to middle-income areas.

Brand Finance gave AIIMS a **Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 79.9** (out of 100), making it one of the strongest hospital brands in the world. It scored **79.4** in Research—reflecting consistent, high-impact scientific output—and **76.1** in Care Delivery, demonstrating its ability to manage complex cases among high patient volumes (millions annually). The Institute is recognized globally among professionals around the world for combining clinical precision and innovation in patient care at scale.

The report states that AIIMS’s research is moving towards translational science and national-priority clinical studies, which are impacting health policy and practice. It is the top hospital brand in South Asia, while other Indian entries like Tata Memorial Center (Mumbai) are at 13th position.

Director of AIIMS Prof. M. Srinivas praised the recognition as validation of the institute’s commitment to providing patient-centric, respectful, affordable care based on rigorous scientific standards. “This is because of our dedicated doctors, nurses, researchers and staff,” he said, emphasizing their excellent work in care, research and teaching.

This success highlights AIIMS’s role in elevating India’s healthcare footprint amid global competition, where US institutions rank top but face challenges in sustaining innovation.
