10 big central trade unions and farmer organizations of the country have together announced Bharat Bandh. It is estimated that around 30 crore employees can participate in this. According to reports, trade unions are protesting against four new labor laws to be implemented in 2025. For this reason, organizations have announced a strike across the country on 12th February.
Bank employee organizations have supported this strike. These include All India Bank Employees Association, All India Bank Officers Association and Bank Employees Federation of India. These organizations have again put forward demands like better working conditions and five days work a week. In view of the possibility of impact on banking services, Bank of Baroda has informed the stock market that if the employees join the strike then the work may be affected.
At the same time, State Bank of India, the country's largest government bank, has also warned customers that some services may be affected to a limited extent during the strike. IDBI Bank has also received formal information from the unions. ATMs are likely to operate normally, but there may be a delay in refilling money.
Even though the organizations have called for a nationwide strike, the regulatory bank RBI has not given any official statement on this. Despite the strike, banks or the Reserve Bank of India have not declared this day a holiday. This means that the branches will remain open, although there may be some problems in functioning. Customers may face delays in services at different bank branches. At the same time, online banking and ATM services will remain operational.
