Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni is going to return soon with the IPL 2026 season. Dhoni has also started preparations for this. But while he is once again preparing to return to the field on behalf of Chennai Super Kings, the court has ordered him to deposit money in an old case. According to reports, Madras High Court has ordered former CSK captain Dhoni to deposit Rs 10 lakh in the court. This order has been given to Dhoni to bear the expenses of certain paperwork in the defamation case filed by him.
According to the information, this case is related to the 2013 IPL match fixing and betting scandal. Then against dragging your name into this criminal activity Dhoni Had filed a defamation case against a media company, an IPS officer and others. Since then, the hearing in this case is going on and the court action regarding this is progressing. Dhoni had provided CDs of many news shows as evidence in his defamation case, regarding which this latest order of the court has come.
High Court Justice RN Manjula said in her order that whatever CDs have been provided by the complainant (Dhoni), the work of translation and transcription of them has to be completed. He said that this work is a very long and big task, for which a separate interpreter and typist will be required, who will be able to translate and transcribe the evidence (Hindi news reports) available in those CDs in 3-4 months.
Citing the old order of October 28, 2025, he said that the complainant will have to bear the expenses to complete this work. The court has ordered that by March 12, Dhoni will have to deposit Rs 10 lakh to be spent for this work, for which the former Indian cricketer has agreed. He will deposit this amount in the Chief Justice Relief Fund of Madras High Court. In this case, the transcription work is to be completed by the third week of March. The next hearing in this case is also on March 12.
