BBC couple Tess Daly and her husband Vernon Kay posed for a nostalgic sweet selfie as they returned to where it all began at the Television Centre in London on Wednesday. The 56-year-old presenter, who met her husband, 51, in 2001 while working at the BBC, cosied up beside him outside the iconic building, while he covered his newly short, greying locks with a black baseball cap.
Smiling for the camera, Tess looked radiant as she layered up for the outing in a grey zip-up jacket. Meanwhile, Vernon sported a matching grey bomber jacket as he beamed alongside his wife. Matching his wife, Vernon smiled beside his wife, who had on a grey bomber jacket. Sharing the nostalgic moment on Instagram, Tess captioned the photo: "Back where it all began at the Television Centre. always brings back such lovely memories." The picture comes just weeks after Tess's final appearance on Strictly Come Dancing as presenter, as she and Claudia Winkleman announced their joint exit last year.
Tess was said to have cited family reasons for why she had decided to step back after 22 years, saying she wanted to spend more time with Vernon and her husband. A source told The Mirror at the time: "Strictly is a real whirlwind - it is chaotic and they don't have much time together. Vernon has been understanding and knows this. Tess has been on Strictly forever but it's been heartbreaking for her not to have as much time as she's want with her family - it's the juggle so many women have.
"They're seeing her taking time away from work briefly as their fresh start - a chance for her and Vernon to have some space for their relationship."
Tess and Vernon met when they were both up-and-coming presenters on some of the country's biggest TV channels, working on separate shows.
At the time, Vernon was a host on Channel 4's T4, and Tess presented SMTV on ITV on a Saturday morning.
The couple began dating shortly after meeting on T4, and went on to become one of TV's best-known couples.
Both Tess and Vernon's careers went from strength to strength, with the couple even presenting the BBC singing competition Just The Two Of Us together between 2006 and 2007.
Tess previously told Digital Spy of their relationship: "It was all quite immediate, really, because we instantly had such a blast together.
"I couldn't imagine having more fun with anyone else. It was pretty explosive, I tell you."
She explained that a long-term relationship changes over time, saying: 'You keep the fire burning, you keep stoking that fire.'
