Cooking is a special art, but sometimes some mistakes happen while working in the kitchen. When we are cooking many things simultaneously, the chances of dal or vegetable burning increases. When the smell of burning starts coming, the mood becomes very bad. In such a situation it is not clear what to do. All the food gets wasted and it takes a lot of effort to prepare the food again. This very thought troubles us.
But you don’t need to worry, because a burnt dish does not always mean bad food. If you show some cleverness, you can save this food with some simple kitchen tricks.
When vegetables or pulses get burnt, people get nervous and start mixing them. But it is not right to do so. The burnt layer settles down and when stirred, the bitterness spreads. Instead, turn off the gas and avoid moving the dish.
If the food is burnt, applying a hot tadka on top can significantly improve the taste. For this, heat some ghee or oil, add cumin, garlic, asafoetida and dry red chilli in it, then pour it on the remaining dal or vegetable. The fresh aroma will mask the burnt taste and create a new taste experience.
If there is a burning smell in the food, you can balance it by adding some sweet or creamy ingredients to it. Use a spoonful of malai, fresh cream, coconut milk, or a little boiled milk. If cream doesn’t go well with the dish, a pinch of sugar, jaggery, or even grated carrots can make a difference in the taste.
