On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Kedarnath Rawal announced the date of opening of the doors of Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath after the ritual worship. According to the fixed time, the doors of Baba Kedarnath will be opened for common devotees on 22 April 2026 at 8:00 am. As soon as the date of opening of doors is decided, the administration and the temple committee have started preparations on war footing.
Devotees will be able to have darshan of Jyotirlinga at 8 am on 22nd April. A special plan has been prepared for the repair of footpaths, accommodation arrangements and medical facilities so that the pilgrims coming in record numbers do not face any problem.
Winter journey made record
The winter yatra started on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is getting tremendous response. After the closure of the doors till January 31, 34,140 devotees visited the winter migration places of the four Dhams (like Omkareshwar and Pandukeshwar temples). This is proving to be a new milestone for the tourism of Uttarakhand.
Rail service till Chardham
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has recently shared important information regarding Chardham connectivity. The 125 km long Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line project has been approved. The survey for taking the rail line to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath has been completed. In Uttarakhand, work is going on on three new railway lines of 216 km at a total cost of Rs 40,384 crore, on which about Rs 19,898 crore has been spent till March 2025.
