UPPSC PCS 2024 Interview: UP PCS Interviews Begin, Questions Ranging From SIR to Aravalli Mining

Interviews for candidates who successfully passed the PCS 2024 Mains exam at the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission began today. The commission is conducting interviews for 887 positions. The interviews began at 9 a.m. Six boards have been formed, each consisting of four to five experts. According to candidates who have emerged from the interviews, each candidate is being questioned for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The board is asking questions related to Special Intensive Review (SIR), mining in the Aravalli Hills, inter-caste marriages, and administrative decisions.

Case Number 1

Anmol from Maharashtra, who emerged from the UPPSC PCS interview, said his interview lasted approximately 15 to 20 minutes. He said he was asked questions related to his graduation and post-graduation studies. According to Anmol, his background was in mechanical engineering, so he was asked questions related to engineering. He also faced questions on governance and political science. He said the panel's approach was cooperative, and the interview concluded in a positive atmosphere.

Case Number 2

Navneet Tiwari from Ayodhya, regarding his UPPSC PCS interview, said that he was asked mostly questions related to current affairs. He also asked questions about the SIR, the ongoing Aravalli mining case in the Supreme Court, and the impact of mining. According to Tiwari, being a geography student, he was given a detailed discussion on the environment and the impact of mining. He also asked questions related to the water problem in Bundelkhand, water harvesting, and water conservation. Situation-based questions were also asked to assess administrative capabilities. For example, how would one maintain balance if the government announced development plans and the code of conduct was implemented? Questions also addressed how one would handle the situation if an inter-caste marriage, while serving as SDM, sparked tension in the area. What action would one take in the event of a minor girl's marriage?

Case No. 3

Navneet Rai, a law student from Azamgarh, appeared for the UPPSC PCS interview for the first time. He has already appeared for the Mains exam three times. He reported that his interview lasted approximately 20 minutes. He stated that questions were asked about transportation problems in Uttar Pradesh, women's education, and the characteristics of the Harappan civilization. According to Rai, he was also asked how to connect the Harappan culture with the current culture. He was also asked what he would do to make India develop by 2047.

Interview Dates and Process

According to the Commission, the UPPSC PCS 2024 interviews will be held from February 16 to March 20. Interviews will be held on February 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28. In March, interviews will be held consecutively from March 9 to 14 and March 16 to 20. All interviews are being conducted in two sessions: the first session is at 9:30 a.m. and the second at 2:00 p.m. Candidates are required to report to the Commission's Saraswati Campus one and a half hours before the interview begins.

The Mains Result Has Already Been Released

The UP Public Service Commission declared the PCS 2024 Mains Result on February 4. The Commission has declared 2,719 candidates qualified for the interview. The PCS Mains written examination was held from June 29, 2025, to July 2, 2025, at examination centers in Prayagraj and Lucknow. A total of 13,776 candidates appeared in the Mains examination. Recruitment is to be conducted for 24 types of posts within the PCS cadre, totaling 947 posts. Selection for 60 posts will be based solely on a written examination. The results for these posts will be announced along with the final stage results. Additionally, selection for 887 posts will be based on a written examination and interview, for which the interview process has begun today.
