Asda double tragedy as two men die in front of horrified shoppers in Swindon

A double tragedy has rocked the Asda supermarket in Swindon after two people died in front of horrified shoppers. The incidents happened outside Asda at the West Swindon District Centre on Friday (February 13) and Sunday (February 15).

According to the reports, in both the cases, the deceased (males), were found to be unresponsive as they suffered cardiac arrests. First aid was administered by staff and members of the public and emergency services were called. Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance were called to the scene but despite the best efforts of medics, both of the men - who were aged in their 70s - were pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "We were called to Asda, West Swindon, at 4.55pm on Friday following reports of a man in his 70s in cardiac arrest. Extensive efforts were made to save the man's life, but he sadly died around 40 minutes later.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family."

In a second statement, they continued: "At around 10.15am yesterday we responded to a medical episode at the West Swindon District Centre involving a man in his 70s. He was sadly declared dead at the scene.There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family."e

The shopping centre was closed while the emergency services responded, but later reopened.
