Monday brought new hope for the women of Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched a concrete initiative towards women's empowerment, providing direct financial benefits to 2.5 million women in the state. At a program held at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, in Patna, the Chief Minister released crores of rupees in a single click through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

2,500 crore rupees directly into accounts
This initiative, launched under the Chief Minister's Women's Employment Scheme, ensures complete transparency. The government has eliminated the role of middlemen and transferred funds directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. A total of 2,500 crore rupees was released on Monday, delivering 10,000 rupees to each beneficiary woman's account. This amount is a boon for women who were looking to start small businesses or struggling to improve their existing livelihoods. According to officials, this financial assistance is an initial but important step towards making women self-reliant.

PM Modi Launched
The foundation stone of this ambitious scheme was laid last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme' in Bihar in September 2025. Since then, the scheme has been expanding steadily. Statistics show that approximately 18.1 million women have received the first installment of ₹10,000 each under this scheme.

Next Big Opportunity: ₹2 Lakh
The most attractive aspect of this scheme is that the assistance will not stop at ₹10,000. This amount is just the beginning. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made it clear that women who use this ₹10,000 appropriately to establish their own businesses or employment will receive further government assistance as a reward. Successful beneficiaries will soon receive an additional ₹2 lakh. The Chief Minister recently announced that the state government has initiated the process of providing additional financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh to selected beneficiaries.
