Puff Pastry Sheets Recipe: The real secret of bazaar-like patties is hidden in its layers. Bakeries work hard for hours to make it, but in the era of smart home cooking, it is very easy to buy ‘puff pastry sheets’ from the market and make crispy patties like a bakery at home. Let us know the step-by-step recipe.

Material

Puff Pastry Sheets (Frozen)
Potatoes-3–4 boiled (mashed)
Boiled peas – ½ cup
Carrot-1 finely chopped
Onion-1 finely chopped
Green chillies – one to two
Ginger-garlic paste-1 tsp
Garam masala-½ tsp
Red chilli powder-½ tsp
Chaat masala-½ tsp
Salt – as per taste
Oil-1 tablespoon
A little milk or butter for brushing

Method

  1. Heat oil in pan. Add onion and fry until light golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli. Add carrots and peas and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Now add potatoes and all the spices and mix well. Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool.
  3. Remove the puff pastry sheet from the freezer and let it soften for 5–10 minutes. Roll out lightly (not too much, otherwise the layers will get pressed). Cut into square pieces.
  4. Place 1–2 spoons of stuffing in the middle of each piece. Apply light water on the edges. Fold in half and press the edges (pressing with a fork will give a good seal).
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place butter paper on the tray. Place the patties and brush milk or butter on top. Bake for 18–25 minutes, until golden brown.

Tips to get perfect results like bakery

  1. Layers are formed well only when the sheet remains cool and not completely melted.
  2. The oven should be well preheated.
  3. Do not fill too much stuffing, otherwise it may open.
  4. Brushing some butter on top adds wonderful crispness.
