Entry Fees: Tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh will now have to spend more. The state government has increased the entry fees for vehicles coming from outside states by Rs 30 to Rs 230. The new rates will be applicable from April 1, 2026.

This decision will not only impact tourists, but there is also a possibility of increase in transport and freight rates. The government has issued an official notification in this regard. Himachal receives a large number of tourists from other states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.

New toll barrier policy: Fastag will be mandatory

Under the new toll barrier policy of the state government, entry fees will be collected at the barriers only. Fastag will be made mandatory. The auction of barriers will now be held through online medium.

At the district level, a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of DC (Deputy Commissioner), which will operate and monitor.

According to the government, the contractors will have to implement all the necessary arrangements including Fastag within 15 days. It is being claimed that this will reduce the problem of jam and the movement will become easier.

Fear of impact on tourism and business

The increase in entry fees has increased concerns among people associated with the tourism industry. Hotelier Ashwani Sood of the capital Shimla said that this decision could have a negative impact on tourism. He has demanded the government to withdraw the increase.

Traders believe that the burden of additional fees will ultimately fall on tourists, which could impact hotels, travel and local businesses.
