Tiger Woods made his true thoughts clear on his son Charlie refusing to follow in his footsteps after making two major career decisions. The 17-year-old is an amateur golfer and has competed in several tournaments alongside his legendary dad while attempting to make his name in the amateur scene.
Prior to turning professional in 1996, the 15-time major champion chose to study at Stanford University to further his education. Despite his amateur status in 1995, he competed at the Masters but eventually left the prestigious college after two years in order to focus on his golf career.
Almost 30 years since his departure from Stanford, Charlie decided to decline the opportunity to attend his father's alma mater in favour of studying at Florida State University. Born and raised in the Sunshine State, the teenager opted to stay close to home and confirmed his decision on Instagram. He wrote: "Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University - go Noles!"
While some may have thought Tiger would have been despondent about Charlie's decision, it couldn't be further from the truth as the five-time Masters champion took to social media to vocalise his support as he wrote: "Congratulations Charlie. I'm so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life."

Tiger does have one of his offspring at Stanford, with his daughter studying at the university, and he long expressed his wish for Charlie to make his own decision regarding his future. Speaking at the Hero World Challenge in December, he said:"It's fun to be a part of the process with Charlie and go through it and see the opportunities he has that he has created for himself by playing better, places he could play, wants to play, ultimately will decide where he wants to go play."
Charlie's other step into forging his own lane in golf was reportedly signing a deal with Players Group Management. According to Sports Business Journal, the Florida-born golfer is now represented by the agency - a separate company from his father who has been represented by Excel Sports Management since 2011.
