Eggs will be 'jammy and luxurious' when you add 1 extra step before cooking

Eggs are a staple breakfast item, whether they're a welcome addition to a full English breakfast, poached to perfection on a slice of crusty bread, or the perfect vessel to dip your soldiers in to. The key is getting them cooked precisely so you get that beautiful gooey, jammy yolk that pops.

Food content creator Nadia Aidi, who goes by Food My Muse on TikTok, shared how she gets the jammiest yolk every single time, but not in the conventional way. When discussing eggs, Nadia explained that the yolk is the best part of an egg, so her recipe simply puts it at centre stage. In fact, you won't even need the whites.

In a video from earlier this year, Nadia said: "This is rich. It's comforting. It's luxurious. It's delicious. I can't think of a better bite. And it's pretty simple."

This recipe is all about the yolks and how you can amplify the gooey texture, and simply use that to top your toast in the morning. However, the home cook is firm to say it's not a hollandaise sauce.

She explained: "I shared a version of this a few years back and broke the internet because people were calling me names for pretending to reinvent hollandaise lol...as someone who worked the brunch service and then had to make béarnaise at dinner service, trust me you...this is NOT a hollandaise.

"The technique is different, not to mention the ratios! For ref[erence], about one yolk calls for seven to nine ounces of melted (even clarified) butter in a hollandaise, it gets whisked to be fluffy and airy, there's vinegar. If you wanna compare it to something, it's closer to a curd!"

Another recommended: "This would be unreal with bone marrow."

Selena commented, "Oh wow. This looks like a dream I didn't know I had," while another agreed, "I don't care what you call it. This looks like heaven!"

If you're after an innovative take on your next jammy eggs for breakfast, here's how you can recreate Nadia's recipe at home.

Jammy yolks recipe

Ingredients

  • Five yolks
  • Two and a half tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • Bread slices
  • Garlic
  • Chives
  • Black pepper
  • Lemon zest
  • Flaky salt

Method

Separate the yolks but save the whites for another time. Fill a saucepan to about a third with water and simmer.

Add the yolks to a bowl and place over the simmering pot of water. Lower heat to medium-low.

Gently mix with a spoon or spatula, rubbing the sides for about 90 seconds. You want the yolks jammy and slightly thickened. Turn heat off.

Add in the butter, mix together until melted. Salt to taste.

Toast bread, rub garlic on it, spread the yolks and add lemon zest, chives, flaky salt and pepper.
