New Delhi: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was evacuated from the Prime Minister’s official residence in Canberra late last night. Canberra police took action after receiving a phone call threatening to plant a bomb at the Prime Minister’s residence. Police have cordoned off the area in response to the threat. An investigation team is conducting further investigations at the Prime Minister’s residence.

This bomb threat against the Prime Minister’s residence comes just as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is scheduled to visit Australia. According to SBS News, local police received information about a bomb being planted at the Prime Minister’s residence, prompting Prime Minister Albanese to be rescued. Police removed the Prime Minister from the residence and moved him to a safe location.

Albanese received a death threat in
March 2025. Australian police arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the threat. Police said the person who made the threat was a drug user and was mentally unstable. Earlier this month, an attack occurred a short distance from the Prime Minister’s residence. Police arrested a man in connection with this attack as well.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is visiting Australia
next week. He will meet with Prime Minister Albanese there. The two leaders will strengthen bilateral relations. Australia may sign an energy agreement with Canada. Carney’s visit is considered very important for Australia.
