New Deadline for UPSC CSE 2026: The official website of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) experienced a crash on the final day for submitting applications for the Civil Services Examination 2026. This disruption was caused by an influx of candidates attempting to apply at the same time, leading to many being unable to complete their applications. As a result, the UPSC has decided to extend the application deadline to February 27, 2026. This extension also applies to the Indian Forest Service Examination 2026.

Vacancies Available: A total of 933 positions across various central government departments will be filled through the Civil Services Examination 2026. The Commission had previously advised applicants to avoid waiting until the last minute due to potential server overload.

Application Process Issues:
Numerous candidates reported experiencing slow login times and temporary access issues. The UPSC's online portal is the only platform for submitting applications, completing one-time registrations (OTRs), uploading necessary documents, and processing fee payments.

Candidates who have not yet completed their OTR must first register, log in, and select the CSE 2026 link. The application form requires personal, educational, and contact information, along with a photograph, signature, and other necessary documents. After paying the application fee, candidates must download the confirmation page.

Selection Process Overview:
The recruitment will occur in three phases:

  • Preliminary Examination

  • Main Examination

  • Personality Test/Interview

  • After the interview, successful candidates will undergo document verification and a medical examination. Passing each stage is essential.

    Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. The age range for candidates is 21 to 32 years, with age relaxations available for candidates from reserved categories as per government guidelines.
