Post Holi Hair Fall Prevention: Holi is a festival of happiness but often the strong colors and chemicals like lead and copper sulphate present in gulal take away the moisture from our hair. Due to which hair starts falling rapidly from the very next day of Holi. If you too are not able to play Holi due to this fear, then stop worrying. Just these 3 steps will give a protective shield to your hair.
Amidst the fun of colors on Holi, our hair and scalp suffer the most damage. The permanent colors available in the market contain synthetic dyes and toxic elements which damage the hair cuticles and weaken them from the roots. You can adopt some tips to protect your hair.
Just applying oil on hair is not enough. Massage the scalp thoroughly with coconut, olive or mustard oil at least 2-3 hours before playing Holi. A thick layer of oil forms a protective shield over the hair so that the colors do not reach inside the hair. After applying oil, do not leave the hair open but make a braid or bun.
If you want to avoid the stickiness of oil, then apply a good quality leave-in conditioner or hair serum. It closes the pores of the hair so that water or color containing chemicals cannot penetrate inside the hair shaft. This step is especially important for those whose hair is already colored or dry.
When it comes to colors, the best protection is to cover your hair. By wearing a stylish bandana, scarf or hat you can not only look cool but also protect your hair up to 90% from direct exposure to colors. It also keeps your scalp away from itching and irritation from colors.
After Holi is over, do not wash your hair with hot water immediately, this can make the color stronger. First of all, wash the hair with plain cold water until the color stops coming out. After this use mild or herbal shampoo. After drying the hair, do not forget to apply hair mask so that the lost moisture can be regained.
