Lord Vishnu could not know this, but the Sun and the Moon caught his trick and told this to Lord Vishnu. After this, in anger, God cut the throat of demon Swarbhanu with Sudarshan Chakra, but he had already drank the nectar and hence he did not die.
After this, the head part of Swarabhanu was called Rahu and the torso part was called Ketu. Since then, Rahu and Ketu considered the Sun and the Moon as their enemies. It is believed that on the day of full moon both of them engulf the moon. That's why lunar eclipse occurs.
