Hyundai i20 vs Honda Amaze – A small battle between heart and mind often begins when buying a car. Heart says take a stylish and feature-loaded car, while the mind says focus on space, mileage and value. In such a situation, if the budget is between Rs 7 and 11 lakh, then the combat is often stuck between Hyundai i20 and Honda Amaze. One is a premium hatchback, the other is a compact sedan. Both are strong contenders in their respective ways.
design
Let me tell you that the design of the Hyundai i20 seems sporty and modern at first sight. Sharp headlamps, bold grilles and coupe-style rear make it special among the youth. This car gives a slightly premium feel on the road, such as a compact but stylish jacket.
At the same time, Honda Amaze’s design is more soft and classic. Its sedan body, long rear section and large boot space give it a family-friendly look. Amaze is plain in appearance, but mature and balanced.
If style and urban look is your priority, the i20 can win hearts. But if traditional sedan style is preferred, Amaze sits upright.
Engine
Hyundai i20 gets a 1.2-liter petrol engine, which gives power of around 83hp. This engine gives a smooth and quiet drive experience in the city. Both manual and IVT (CVT) automatic options are available.
Honda Amaze also comes with a 1.2-liter petrol engine, which generates power of around 90hp. Amaze’s engine feels a bit more powerful, especially on the highway. It also offers manual and CVT options.
The i20 feels more silent and refined while driving, while the Amaze gives a bit more power feel. Mileage is balanced in both, but Honda’s engine has long been known for its reliable performance.
Interior and Features
Hyundai i20’s cabin offers a clean and premium feel. The 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster and Bose sound system make it feature-loaded.
The interior of Honda Amaze is more practical. It offers touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and good quality seats. But the list of features is not as long as i20.
Talking about space, Amaze gives more legroom and bigger boot space for the back sitters. This advantage is seen clearly for family trips. The i20 also has enough space, but does not get a boot advantage like a sedan.
Safety and Build
Hyundai i20 features six airbags (in top variants), ABS, ESC and rear cameras. Hyundai has improved a lot in recent years in terms of safety.
Honda Amaze also comes with dual airbags, ABS and essential safety features. Honda’s build quality and engine reliability have long been considered strong.

If more airbags and electronic safety features are needed, the i20 takes a slight edge. But Honda’s credibility also cannot be underestimated.
Price
The price of Hyundai i20 starts at around Rs 7 lakh and goes up to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Honda Amaze costs between about 7.5 lakh to 10.5 lakh rupees.
i20 gives more in terms of features, but Amaze comes with more space and power. Talking about the resale value, both Honda and Hyundai are strong in the market.
If the budget is limited and more space is needed, then Amaze is a sensible choice. But if technology and premium feel are important, then the i20 will look more attractive.
