India defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs to register their first win in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Chasing 257, the visiting team managed 184/6. The Indian bowlers once again leaked a lot of runs and were unable to stop the rival batters. Shivam Dube, the all-rounder, conceded 46 runs from his two overs. Brian Bennett, the in-form batter, amassed 97 runs off 59 balls, with the help of 8 boundaries and 6 sixes. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, dismissing three batters.

Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel took one wicket each.

Earlier, Abhishek Sharma (55 off 30), Hardik Pandya (50* off 23) and Tilak Varma (44* off 16) were the top getters for the Men in Blue. India have two points from two matches and need to beat the West Indies in the last fixture to qualify for the semi-finals. With their second consecutive defeat, Zimbabwe have been eliminated.
