Death in Paradise detective Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet) announced he was temporarily leaving Saint Marie in Friday's episode.

After Mervin and the team solved another case, the detective decided to take his colleague Naomi Thomas' (Shantol Jackson) advice and go to Antigua to visit his brother Solomon (Daniel Ward).

Mervin and his brother's relationship did not get off to a great start after he raided the shack and stole the detective's belongings. After that, Solomon decided to go back to Antigua, and Mervin was unsure whether he would ever see him again.

However, towards the end of Friday's episode, Mervin told Naomi he would not be at work the following day as he was leaving for Antigua.

"DS Thomas, I am just letting you know I won't be coming in tomorrow," Mervin said on the phone.

"I am actually taking your advice as it goes, I am going to see Sol. Yeah, well, I mean, I don't even know if he wants to see me, but hey, what is the worst that could happen?"

In the next moment, Naomi raced to see her colleagues, expressing concern about the detective.

"Sir," Naomi said with urgency as the Commissioner (Don Warrington) replied, "DS Thomas, what is it?"

"I think something has happened to the inspector," she added.

The episode concluded with Mervin tied up after he had been kidnapped by someone, but who is the culprit?

"What the hell is going on?" The detective quizzed as he tried to break free.

As he looked up, it appeared Mervin knew who his kidnapper was as he fumed, "You!"
