Piers Morgan exploded into a furious rant as he slammed the way several actors have treated Tourette's sufferer John Davidson. During last weekend's BAFTA Film Awards ceremony, Tourette's campaigner Davidson, the inspiration behind the award-winning film I Swear, shouted a racial slur while actors Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage presenting the award for Best Visual Effects.

While many have defended Davidson, who admitted afterwards that he was "mortified", others have criticised him, including Hollywood actors Jamie Foxx and Wendell Pierce. Commenting on a post about the incident on social media, Fox branded it "unacceptable" and claimed "he meant that s**t." Meanwhile, Pierce said: "It's infuriating that the first reaction wasn't complete and full throatted [sic] apologies to Delroy Lindo and Michael B Jordan. The insult to them takes priority. It doesn't matter the reasoning for the racist slur."

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the 60-year-old host took aim at the actors who have been offended by the slur, pointing out that having Tourette's means Davidson had no control over what he said at that moment.

He raged: "You begin to realise quite quickly that he has no control over any of this and nothing to do with it indicates his real state of mind.

"To judge him accordingly, to say, 'We've got this movie and we're going to give an actor an award for playing you, but you're not allowed in the room because some oversensitive actors might be upset by stuff, even when not they're told you have no control over it and it's not your real thinking.'"

The presenter added: "My message to those actors is grow the f**k up."

Weighing in on the situation earlier in the week, Morgan demanded Foxx apologise for the remarks he made.

Taking to X with an image of the I Swear poster, he said: "I watched this movie last night. Incredibly powerful and inspiring... Might have been wise for all those gobbing off about the BAFTA N-word saga to have watched it too before making so many shockingly ill-informed comments. I'm looking at the likes of you, Jamie Foxx!"

In a separate post, he wrote: "Jamie should apologise."

During the BAFTAs ceremony, host Alan Cumming said: "You may have noticed some strong language in the background. This can be part of how Tourette's syndrome shows up for some people as the film explores that experience. Thanks for your understanding and helping create a respectful space for everyone."

Later on, he told the audience: "Tourette's Syndrome is a disability and the tics you've heard tonight are involuntary, which means the person who has Tourette's Syndrome has no control over their language. We apologise if you are offended tonight."
