‘India deeply concerned at developments in Iran’: Centre urges all sides to ‘exercise restraint’

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) has issued a statement over the Israel-US joint attacks on Iran on Saturday and the evolving situation in the West Asia.

India urges for dialogue and diplomacy

The statement read, “India is deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians. Dialogue and diplomacy should be pursued to de-escalate tensions and address underlying issues.”

It added, “Sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected. Our Missions in the region are in touch with Indian nationals and have issued appropriate advisories asking them to remain vigilant, stay in contact with the Missions, and follow local security guidance.”

Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, UAE warns citizens

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has also cautioned the citizens there to stay vigilant. It said in a statement, “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian Nationals currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are advised to remain vigilant, strictly adhere to the safety guidelines prevalent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and follow advisories issued by the local authorities and the Embassy.” Also, the embassy provided some helpline numbers for the Indian nationals there.


Earlier, the Indian Embassy in the UAE issued a waring to its citizens in the country, urging them to avoid unnecessary travels. It took to X and said, “In view of the current regional situation, all Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, take due care, remain vigilant, follow safety guidelines and advisories as and when issued by the UAE authorities and the Embassy.”
