In a suicide note written before his death, he blamed his wife for this dreadful step.
What is the whole matter? This tragic incident happened on February 23 at around 8:45 pm near Sahjani crossing of Gangaghat Kotwali area. The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Vikas Gupta and his 14-year-old daughter Vedika. Vikas's white colored car was found parked about 100 meters away from the spot. Police found Vikas's mobile and purse from inside the car. A small suicide note was found stuck on the back of the mobile, in which Vikas had blamed his second wife for his death.
Illicit relationship and insistence on going to Dubai Vikas's brother Shivam Omar has made shocking revelations in his statement to the police. According to him, after the death of his first wife, Vikas married a woman named Dolly. But discord started in the house after marriage. It is alleged that Dolly was in a relationship with another young man for the last two months and she was planning to run away with him to Dubai. On February 19, when Vikas protested against this, Doli called her parents and got Vikas beaten brutally. Vikas suffered a serious head injury in this attack, which was treated at Halat Hospital in Kanpur.
Question on police negligence? Family members allege that just before his death, i.e. on 23rd February, Vikas had given an application to the police for his safety and complaint of assault. It is alleged that if the police had taken action in time, the father and daughter would have been alive today. This alleged 'neglect' of the police broke Vikas from within.
Case registered against 5 people After the incident, the police and forensic team have collected evidence from the spot. On the complaint of the deceased's brother, the police have registered a case under serious sections against a total of 5 people including the accused wife Dolly. The dead bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem, who performed the last rites in a sombre atmosphere.
