It will also serve as a new way for companies to strengthen their presence on the platform.

Sponsored content was previously limited to a limited number of users, but it has now been rolled out globally. The company shared the information on its official social media platform, X.

New ads and promoted channels will appear in the Updates section of the app, where statuses and channels already exist. These ads will appear among normal status posts with clear labels to help users understand this is promotional content.

Users can easily skip these ads by swiping away like other status ads. The company claims this feature is designed to give people who are viewing new updates a chance to discover brands and organizations right there.

The company clarified that this change will be limited. Personal chat will not be affected. Chats , calls, and personal status will remain protected by end-to-end encryption, meaning these ads will not impact your private conversations.

If a user finds repeated ads annoying, they can also block or hide them. Users will get control. This way, users will retain control over what appears in the Updates tab.

In select regions, including some European countries, the company may also offer an ad-free subscription option. This plan will remove ads from the Updates section, though pricing and availability may vary by region.

Along with advertising, WhatsApp is also rapidly expaA new feature also came in the group chat.e company added a feature called Group Chat History, which allows new members to see the gist of past conversations after joining a group.

Group admins or members can now share 25 to a maximum of 100 old messages with new members in a structured way. Previously, this wasn't the case, and new users could only see messages sent after joining.

According to the company, when old chat history is shared, all members are notified and the time and sender information are clearly visible.
