MSRTC News : There is a comforting news for the passengers traveling by ST Bus of Maharashtra State Transport Corporation. A few days ago there were discussions that soon National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will be made mandatory for senior citizens who travel free, women with half tickets and pass holders. The state transport minister Pratap Saranaik himself announced this a few days ago. After that news in this context was also broadcast. But now the government has made it clear that there is no clear stand on this decision.
MSRTC through an official tweet informed that although registration of NCMC smart card has started in all agaras (MSRTC News), at present this card is not mandatory for ST travel. ST Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohan Desai also gave the same information. Also, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (State Publicity Department) clarified that the claim on social media that NCMC card is mandatory for concessional ST tickets is false and misleading to the public.
On the one hand, the Transport Minister said in a press conference that this card is mandatory, on the other hand, the official publicity department of the state itself announced that the information was wrong. Therefore, discussions have started on whether there are 2 different positions and differences of opinion on this issue at the government level. MSRTC News
Another thing is the opposition of citizens to this plan. The NCMC card costs around Rs 199 and requires a minimum balance of Rs 100. Also recharge has to be done in multiples of Rs.50. These conditions are becoming quite troublesome for the commuters in rural areas and villages. Also, standing in a queue at the passenger terminal is not desirable. Due to this, many passengers expressed their displeasure. It is probably only after this complaint that the corporation decided not to make the NCMC card mandatory.
