Dubai. India’s Olympic medalist badminton star PV Sindhu has shared her horrific experience regarding an explosion near Dubai Airport. The situation was already tense due to Iran- attacks in the area, meanwhile the explosion near the airport created chaos. Sindhu and her team were stuck at the airport at that time. The sudden explosion shook everyone present there. Sindhu said that the situation is becoming more scary with every hour.

The coach had to run to save his life

Sharing her experience on social media platform X, Sindhu wrote that ‘This crisis is continuously increasing and the situation is becoming more frightening every hour. A few hours ago, there was an explosion near the airport where we were staying. My coach had to immediately flee the scene as he was closest to the smoke and debris. It was a very stressful and scary moment for all of us. After this incident, panic spread in the entire group. However, everyone maintained patience and followed safety instructions.

Sindhu further said that now everyone has been shifted to a safe place. He expressed gratitude for the prompt cooperation of Dubai Airport Administration and local authorities. He wrote, ‘Now we are all safe and we have been shifted to a more secure place. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of Dubai Airport staff and Dubai Administration. Also, special thanks to the Indian High Commission in Dubai, who continuously helped us and ensured our safety. Right now we are trying to rest and hoping that the situation will become normal soon.

Sindhu’s father’s statement

PV Sindhu’s father Raman told news agency ANI in a phone conversation from Hyderabad, ‘I spoke to my daughter at around 3 am today. He told that the Indian Embassy is taking care of him and he has been accommodated in a hotel. He also told that after the current situation, full help is being provided by the administration.

Even before this, Sindhu had shared the situation at Dubai Airport by posting a story on Instagram. He had shared the video of the crowd and told that the crowd is increasing and people are worried. Sindhu had written, ‘I am safe. Thank you to everyone who messaged me and inquired about my well-being, it means a lot to me. He further said, ‘Hearing the sounds of activities happening from above and seeing the situation deteriorating in real time is difficult to mentally comprehend. The situation at Dubai Airport is extremely chaotic, many families are stranded. We are all just hoping that this difficult time passes soon. Praying for the peace and safety of all those affected.

Due to the ongoing tension in the area, the situation has still not completely returned to normal. Sindhu and her team are currently staying there and waiting for the situation to improve. This incident has once again shown that international tension can affect players and common citizens as well.

India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu was going to participate in the prestigious All England Open to be held in Birmingham. The tournament was to begin on Tuesday and Dubai was their transit stop. But due to rapidly increasing geopolitical tension in the region, air services were suddenly stopped. Due to this, the air traffic of Dubai, one of the busiest aviation centers in the world, came to a complete standstill. Like thousands of passengers, Sindhu also got stuck there and could not get any clear information about her further journey.

Passengers were advised not to head towards the airport terminal for now.
