Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Increased Again Ahead of Holi; Rates Climb for Third Straight Month
In a fresh development just days before Holi, commercial LPG cylinder prices have been revised upward once again. The latest hike, effective March 1, 2026, applies only to the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders widely used by hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and other business establishments. Domestic consumers, however, have not been impacted this time, as the price of the 14.2-kg household LPG cylinder remains unchanged.
According to data available on the official website of Indian Oil Corporation, the price of the 19-kg Indane commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹28 to ₹31, depending on the city. This marks the third consecutive monthly rise in commercial LPG rates.
Following the latest revision, the new retail prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders in key metropolitan cities are as follows:
Delhi: ₹1,768.50 (up from ₹1,740.50)
Kolkata: ₹1,875.50 (up from ₹1,844.50)
Mumbai: ₹1,720.50 (up from ₹1,692)
Chennai: ₹1,929 (up from ₹1,899.50)
The increase ranges between ₹28 and ₹31 per cylinder across these cities. Businesses dependent on LPG for daily operations are likely to feel the financial impact, especially as this revision comes during a peak festive and wedding season when demand typically rises.
This is the third straight month that commercial LPG cylinder prices have gone up. In February 2026, prices were raised by ₹49 per cylinder, while January saw a sharper hike of ₹111. Notably, December 2025 had offered some relief to businesses, as commercial LPG rates were reduced that month.
The consistent upward trend in commercial LPG prices over the past three months could influence operating costs for food and hospitality businesses. Industry observers believe that restaurants and catering services may review their pricing strategies if input costs continue to climb.
While commercial users are facing higher costs, households have been spared any fresh burden. The price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged. The last revision in domestic cylinder rates took place on April 8, 2025.
Currently, domestic LPG cylinder prices in select cities are as follows:
Delhi: ₹853
Kolkata: ₹879
Mumbai: ₹852.50
Chennai: ₹868.50
Lucknow: ₹890.50
Ahmedabad: ₹860
Hyderabad: ₹905
Varanasi: ₹916.50
Patna: ₹951
The stability in household LPG prices offers some relief to consumers, especially ahead of the festive season when household expenses typically increase.
Commercial LPG cylinders are primarily used in restaurants, hotels, catering services, and small eateries. Any increase in their cost directly affects operational expenses. While the per-cylinder hike may appear moderate, repeated monthly increases can add up significantly for establishments consuming multiple cylinders each week.
Business owners will now closely monitor future price movements, particularly as international fuel trends and currency fluctuations often influence domestic LPG pricing decisions.
For households, the unchanged domestic LPG price provides short-term stability. However, consumers and businesses alike will be watching closely to see whether this trend of commercial price hikes continues in the coming months.
As Holi approaches, the latest revision serves as a reminder of how energy price movements can affect both businesses and consumers. With three consecutive increases now recorded, stakeholders across sectors will be hoping for greater price stability in the near future.
