Arsenal are assured to finish above north London rivals Tottenham as the Gunners' fans celebrate the earliest St Totteringham's Day ever. Richarlison clawed one back for Spurs in the second half but the day ended in defeat for Spurs.

Igor Tudor's team failed to capitalise on losses for relegation contenders West Ham United and Nottingham Forest this weekend as they suffered a fourth successive defeat in the league. Troubled Spurs remain in 16th position, four points ahead of West Ham in the final relegation spot with the other two places in the drop zone virtually certain to be occupied by Wolves and Burnley.

The defeat to Fulham means Arsenal fans will commemorate St Totteringham's Day at the earliest ever point of a campaign. The previous earliest was March 9 in 2008, with the Gunners relishing another splendid season.

Tottenham did manage six consecutive seasons finishing above Arsenal, but that streak ended in 2022. Since then, the Arsenal have enjoyed greater success, whilst Spurs have dismissed three permanent managers.

For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta's side are streets ahead of their north London rivals. Ahead of their home London derby against Chelsea, the Gunners occupy top spot in the Premier League on 61 points, 32 clear of Tottenham.

Results elsewhere mean Spurs' league standing remains unchanged this weekend. West Ham endured a 5-2 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday to squander the opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone and Nottingham Forest suffered a loss at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Tudor's side return to action in midweek for another vital round of Premier League fixtures. They welcome Crystal Palace, who fell 2-1 to Manchester United on Sunday, on Thursday evening.

Leeds United face Sunderland on Tuesday, with West Ham and Forest confronting difficult away fixtures on Wednesday. Nuno Espirito Santo's team travel to Craven Cottage to meet Fulham, whilst Forest take on Manchester City - Arsenal's title rivals.
