treasury‘ Gorakhpur, March 2, 2026: A press note issued from Khajni police station of the district has become a topic of discussion among social media and journalists these days. In this note issued by police station in-charge Jayant Kumar Singh, there are so many mistakes in the date, name of the accused and language style that it is natural to raise questions. The date mentioned on the press note is – 1-3-2025. Whereas today is March 2, 2026. That means the police station in-charge has put a date that is one year old. Is it just a typing error or negligence in preparing the document?

The most surprising thing is the name of the accused. In one part of the note it is written – Jagdamba Shukla s/o Ramsurat Shukla, resident of Dangi Par, Police Station Bansgaon” while in the same note it is further written – Vikas s/o Khaderu, resident of Village Parsauni, Police Station Ghazni” Two different names, two different addresses, in the same press note. Now the question is who is the real accused? Does the police themselves not know or was a deliberate attempt made to create confusion?

The conclusion of the press note is even more unique. Referring to Senior Superintendent of Police Gorakhpur, SP South and Area Officer Khajni, it was written at the end – “Don’t feel bad, it’s Holi!” This sentence is used in common parlance during the festival of Holi, but its use in the official police press note is raising many questions. Is such informal language appropriate in a government document?

Local journalists say that the police press note should be based on facts, clear and consistent. When the information issued by the police itself is wrong even up to the name, address and date, then how will the general public get the correct information?
Till now no clarification has come from Khajni police station or senior officials on this irregularity.

It remains to be seen whether this ‘amazing’ press note will be rectified as a mere typing error or responsibility will be fixed. At present, this press note of Khajni police station is raising questions on the working style of Gorakhpur Police.
