If you love a bacon sandwich but hate the cleanup, there isone way touse up the leftover fat. Chef and TikToker Ian Fujimoto shares recipes and food hacks with his 1.5 million followers on the social media platform.

And he has shared a genius way to store leftover bacon fat so you can use it for other meals to help elevate the flavour. In the caption he called it "liquid gold", and said: "Bacon fat, often referred to as "liquid gold," has become a highly celebrated ingredient in many kitchens. This flavourful fat, rendered from bacon, adds depth to a variety of dishes, making it a favourite among home cooks and professional chefs alike.

"The charm of bacon fat lies in its versatility. It can be used for frying, sautéing, or even as a flavorful base for sauces. Cooking with bacon fat not only enhances the taste of your food but also adds a unique, smoky flavour that can transform ordinary meals into something extraordinary."

But how do you make and store your own liquid gold? Well, according to Ian, it is quite easy.

After cooking your bacon, either in a pan or tray in the oven, you will be left with a lot of bacon fat. He said that, of course, you could just wait for it to harden and throw it away, but with his method, you will have your own pot of liquid gold; all you need is a jar with a lid.

In a video on TikTok, Ian said: "Which simply starts by just pouring all the bacon grease into a jar.

"Now, as you can see, there is a lot of residue still in there, but that's OK."

Ian refers to the burnt piece of bacon left floating in the grease, but says you just need to add boiling water in a 1:1 ratio of bacon fat to water.

He said: "We are going to make sure our jar is sealed very tight, and simply just swirl it all together. Then place it in your refrigerator upside down and once it hardens, you can just pour out all the water and get rid of all the nasty bits.

"And scrape out any leftover gunk. And then you are left with clean, usable bacon fat."
