Nearly a decade after the late actress Sridevi ’s powerful performance in ‘Mom’, plans for its sequel have officially moved into production. Producer Boney Kapoor had earlier revealed his intention to continue the story, with daughter Khushi Kapoor expected to play a key role. The project has now commenced shooting in Noida’s Film City, marking a significant step forward for the long-awaited follow-up. Fresh details about the cast and crew have also begun to emerge.
Boney Kapoor confirms shooting detailsSpeaking to ANI, Boney Kapoor confirmed that filming is currently underway. He revealed that actors Jisshu Sengupta and Karishma Tanna are actively shooting for the project. The film is being directed by Girish Kohli, who previously wrote the original installment, ensuring creative continuity. "The shooting of the film Mom 2 is going on here. The director is Girish Kohli, who was the writer of Mom 1. We have technicians from different places; we have an actor from Bengal, Jisshu, and have a television actor, Karishma Tanna, who is also playing a very important part in the film," he said.
Khushi Kapoor’s role still under wrapsAlthough Kapoor had earlier stated that Khushi Kapoor would feature prominently in the sequel, he did not elaborate on her involvement in this latest update. The young actor has already stepped into the industry and begun building her filmography. Her debut came with ‘The Archies’, directed by Zoya Akhtar, which also introduced Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan.
