Varanasi is set to receive a new medical college by 2027, as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently inspected ongoing infrastructure projects in the city. The inspection covered road construction under the CM Grid Scheme and the development of the medical college on 14.2 acres of land belonging to the Mental Hospital in Pandeypur.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the medical college construction will be completed within the next three years, with an estimated expenditure of ₹150 crore for civil works. Once completed, the college will have the capacity to accommodate around 150 MBBS students. During the visit, officials provided updates on the construction progress and discussed timelines for ensuring the project remains on track. The Chief Minister emphasized maintaining quality standards and adhering to deadlines while monitoring construction activities regularly.

In addition to the medical college, the Chief Minister reviewed the road projects in the Varanasi urban area. Six high-tech roads are being developed at a cost of ₹47 crore, including routes from Tilak Ji’s statue to Bharat Seva Ashram, Golghar Chauraha to LT College, Ghanti Mill to Sigra Police Station, Sigra Chauraha to Aurangabad, Sundarpur Main Road via Munshi Park to Cherian Hospital, and Ravidas Gate to the Trauma Center. Nearly 90 percent of the work has already been completed.

The road projects focus on modern infrastructure features, including landscaping, pedestrian-friendly footpaths, seating arrangements, and greenery along the routes. The initiative aims to improve urban mobility and provide well-planned public spaces for residents and visitors.

The Chief Minister also visited the Police Museum, reviewing facilities and ongoing upgrades. Several officials accompanied him, including Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Stamp and Registration Ravindra Jaiswal, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, District Panchayat Chairperson Poonam Maurya, local MLAs, and Legislative Council members.

The inspections highlight ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare and urban infrastructure in Varanasi, combining modern educational facilities with improved roads and public amenities. The new medical college and smart road projects are expected to contribute to better access to medical education and overall city development by 2027.
