A total lunar eclipse is going to happen on March 3, 2026. This eclipse is going to be visible in many states of India. This lunar eclipse is considered very special because during this time the Moon, Sun and Earth come face to face. At the time of lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, due to which the sunlight does not reach the Moon directly, which is also called blood moon. For this reason the color of the moon appears to change during an eclipse.
Some effects of this lunar eclipse will be visible in Asia, Australia, India and America. However, by the time the moon rises in India, the eclipse will be almost over.
The lunar eclipse will start at 3:20 pm. After this, there will be a complete eclipse at 4:34 pm. Then the eclipse will start ending at 5:33 pm and will end completely at 6:48 pm. It is believed that the main sight of this lunar eclipse will not be visible in India because the Moon rises in India only at the time of the end of the eclipse.
The lunar eclipse will end by the time of moonrise over most places in India. However, glimpses of the last phase of the eclipse can be seen in some eastern parts of India and some places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to Hindu beliefs, one should not eat food at the time of lunar eclipse and should also avoid preparing food. If cooked food is kept in the house, then basil leaves can be kept in it. It is believed that by keeping Tulsi leaves, food can be consumed even after fasting. However, elderly, children and sick persons can eat food during the eclipse. Chanting God’s mantra at the time of lunar eclipse is considered auspicious. In such a situation, chanting Lord Vishnu Mantra, Shiva Mantra, Gayatri Mantra and Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is considered beneficial.
According to religious beliefs, after the lunar eclipse ends, one should take bath, wear clean clothes and sprinkle Ganga water in the house. After this, God should be worshiped according to the rituals. If possible, donating food and money to the poor is also considered auspicious.
