Bengaluru: A 35-year-old engineer died by suicide at her residence in Bengaluru on Tuesday, March 3, following a domestic dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Sushma (35), who was previously employed with the IT firm Dell.

According to the police, Sushma married Puneeth Kumar five years ago, and the couple has a four-year-old son. Police stated that frequent quarrels over trivial matters used to take place at the house.

It is reported that a fight broke out between Sushma and her mother-in-law, Kalpana, on Tuesday over the issue of cooking. Sushma’s family has alleged that Kalpana did not allow her to cook and was harassing her over various issues.

Distressed by these developments, Sushma reportedly ended her life by hanging.

Following a complaint by Sushma's family alleging dowry harassment, the police have arrested her husband. A search is underway for the mother-in-law.
