Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched a new loyalty points program for passengers of the Namo Bharat Train and Meerut Metro. Its purpose is to make public transport more affordable and convenient for commuters. According to the official website, under this program, passengers will earn one loyalty point for every ₹1 spent on a trip, whether they use the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) or purchase a digital QR ticket through the Namo Bharat Connect mobile app. Each point is valued at 10 paise, meaning the more travel, the more points and the greater the savings.
How can passengers avail free travel?
To avail free travel, passengers need at least 300 loyalty points. These points can be used for up to 5 trips at a time and are valid for 7 days. Passengers using NCMC cards can easily check their accumulated points at ticket vending machines, ticket readers, or ticket counters. This entire program has been launched to encourage people to adopt digital payments, paperless ticketing, and sustainable travel.
How to redeem points?
Points can be redeemed on the 'Booking Confirmation' screen in the 'NAMO BHARAT Connect' mobile app. NCRTC has also clarified that passengers cannot use both digital payment and point redemption simultaneously to purchase a single Namo Bharat train ticket. Simply put, passengers cannot pay half with points and half with digital payment; they must choose only one option when purchasing the ticket.
Do these points expire?
According to the official website, loyalty points automatically expire at the end of the calendar day after the completion of 12 months from that date. Furthermore, these points are non-transferable, meaning only the passenger who earned them can use them. Additionally, a passenger's mobile number is required to redeem loyalty points. Even if someone earned points in the NAMO BHARAT Connect app using their email ID, they can only be redeemed using their mobile number.
