Former Louisiana mayor Misty Roberts says she has no apology to offer after a jury found her guilty of having sex with a 16-year-old boy, even as she prepares to appeal the conviction. Roberts, 43, was “found guilty as charged of carnal knowledge of a juvenile” and indecent behavior with a juvenile, both felonies, KSLA News reported on Wednesday, March 4. The incident reportedly occurred during a party at her home while she was still serving as mayor in 2024.
Following the verdict on Tuesday, Roberts’ attorney, Todd Clemons, told TMZ that his client is “very, very disappointed” with the outcome of the trial. “At this particular point, there's no apology that I'm gonna give on her behalf,” Clemons said, as quoted by the outlet.
The lawyer added that Roberts maintains she is innocent and intends to appeal the conviction. As per TMZ if the verdict stands, she could face up to 17 years in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for April 17.

Prosecutors said Roberts had sex with the 16-year-old boy at a birthday party for her son after allegedly providing alcohol to guests. During the trial, Roberts’ son reportedly told Child Advocacy Center officials that his mother and his friend were alone upstairs at one point during the gathering.
According to reporting from various outlets, including the New York Post, jurors also heard testimony from multiple witnesses describing the alleged incident. In an interview with investigators, Roberts’ son reportedly said he saw his mother hooking up with his friend through a crack in the window; however, he later told jurors “he couldn’t be certain that’s what he saw," as per kplctv in earlier reportings.

Her daughter also testified that she saw Roberts and the 16-year-old “on top of each other.” The teenage victim told the jury that he was intoxicated when the sexual encounter occurred.
