Royal insider Rob Shuter joined journalist Maureen Callahan to discuss King Charles III's future, as he claimed his eldest son, Prince William, could become monarch in less than a year. Speaking on the latest episode of The Nerve with Maureen Callahan, former publicist for Princess Michael of Kent Rob discussed rumours of the King's plan to give Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's Royal Lodge to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a peace offering.
After going into depth about the alleged offer, the pair moved on to debate how long 77-year-old King Charles may have left on the throne. Rob then claimed his "bombshell" article about how the King needs to give up the throne soon was read by palace courtiers.
He expanded: "I am told within the palace, 'Your bombshell piece saying Charles should abdicate was read within the palace, and a lot of people agree with you.' It's time to turn the page. We have spoken about it before, Maureen..."
He then claimed Prince William could become King in the next six to 12 months, insisting: "He's already the King - he's the acting King in all but name."
Turning his attention back to Charles, the royal expert said he doesn't think William would "fight" if his father gave Andrew's Royal Lodge for Prince Harry to use.
Andrew was recently evicted from Royal Lodge and now resides in Wood Farm on the King's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk following the loss of his royal titles.
"So be it, I don't think William is going to fight on that hill," Rob expanded. "There's much bigger issues William is going to be dealing with."
