Relief from hangover after Holi

Holi festival is a symbol of happiness and fun. On this day people play in colours, eat sweets and sometimes even consume bhang or liquor in celebration. However, excessive consumption of cannabis or alcohol can cause a severe hangover, which can last for a day or two. This can cause problems like headache, vomiting, dizziness and weakness. In such a situation, some simple home remedies can be helpful in providing relief from hangover.

coconut water
Due to intoxication, there can be lack of water in the body, due to which headache and weakness are felt. The minerals and electrolytes present in coconut water help in rehydrating the body. It is also helpful in removing toxins from the body and increasing energy.

Lemon and Citrus Fruits
Lemon is considered an effective home remedy to recover from addiction. Citrus fruits like orange, mosambi and amla are also very beneficial. The antioxidants present in these fruits reduce the effects of chemicals to addiction and increase energy. Drinking lemon juice mixed in a glass of lukewarm water provides quick relief.

Ginger
Ginger is known to be very effective in reducing addiction, especially for cannabis. It improves digestion and keeps the body warm from inside. Chewing a small piece of ginger or drinking lukewarm water mixed with honey and lemon is beneficial in reducing intoxication.

Adequate water and light food
To reduce intoxication, it is important to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Along with this, eat light and easily digestible food like pulses, rice, soup or porridge. Due to this, the body heals quickly and weakness is reduced. Also, get good sleep and take a bath with cold or lukewarm water to reduce hangover. This refreshes the body and reduces headache and fatigue.
