Customers of Punjab National Bank (PNB) should take note of an important update related to ATM cash withdrawals. The state-owned bank has announced a revision in the daily ATM withdrawal limits for several debit cards, which will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
According to the bank, the change will impact 13 debit card variants, where the maximum amount that can be withdrawn from ATMs per day will be reduced. In most cases, the daily limit will be cut by nearly 50 percent. However, the bank has clarified that POS transactions, online payments, and contactless payments will not be affected by this revision.
The move is part of PNB’s broader effort to strengthen transaction security and promote safer digital banking practices.
PNB stated that several debit card categories currently allowing withdrawals of ₹1,00,000 per day will now have a revised daily limit of ₹50,000 once the new rules take effect.
The following debit cards will see their ATM withdrawal cap reduced:
RuPay NCMC Platinum Domestic Debit Card
RuPay NCMC Platinum International Debit Card
RuPay Women Power Platinum Debit Card
RuPay PNB Palash Debit Card (Recycled PVC)
RuPay Business Platinum NCMC Debit Card
Mastercard Platinum Debit Card
Visa Gold Debit Card
PNB Mastercard Platinum Rise Debit Card
Currently, customers using these cards can withdraw up to ₹1 lakh per day from ATMs, but from April 1, 2026, the maximum limit will be ₹50,000 per day.
In addition to the above cards, some premium debit card variants that currently allow ₹1.5 lakh daily ATM withdrawals will also see their limits revised.
The following cards will have their daily ATM withdrawal limit reduced to ₹75,000:
RuPay Select Debit Card
PNB RuPay Select Neo Debit Card
PNB RuPay Select Excel Debit Card
Visa Signature Debit Card
Mastercard Business Debit Card
For these cards, the new limit will apply from April 2026, effectively reducing the current withdrawal capacity by half.
PNB has made it clear that debit cards not mentioned in the revised list will continue to operate under the existing withdrawal limits. This means customers holding other card variants will not experience any change in their ATM withdrawal allowance.
The bank emphasized that the decision has been taken after reviewing transaction patterns and security considerations.
PNB customers also have the flexibility to set or reset their ATM withdrawal limits within the permitted range. The bank offers multiple digital channels for this purpose, making it convenient for users to manage their card limits.
Customers can modify their ATM withdrawal settings through:
PNB Internet Banking
PNB One Mobile Banking App
IVR Banking Services
WhatsApp Banking
These options allow customers to control their withdrawal limits according to their daily needs while maintaining security.
While ATM withdrawal limits are being revised, PNB has clarified that limits for POS transactions, e-commerce payments, and contactless card payments remain unchanged.
This means customers can continue to use their debit cards for shopping, online purchases, and digital payments without any modification in the transaction cap.
Banks periodically revise ATM withdrawal limits to reduce fraud risks, improve transaction monitoring, and encourage digital payments. Lower withdrawal limits can help minimize financial loss in case of card misuse while promoting secure banking practices.
With the new changes set to roll out from April 1, 2026, PNB customers using the affected debit cards are advised to review the revised limits and plan their cash withdrawals accordingly.
