Gardeners' World fans have finally found something to fill the gaping hole that the BBC show has left in their TV schedules during its winter break. The programme, helmed by Monty Don, is currently on hiatus until spring and showing repeats - but now, thankfully, there's another programme just as good, and it's streaming free.

BBC fans flocked to social media this week to share an "enchanting" watch, currently airing on BBC Two. And that show? It's The Wild Gardener, presented by cameraman Colin Stafford-Johnson, who is on a journey to transform his childhood garden into a haven for local wildlife.

Two episodes are currently available to stream on iPlayer, with more on the way. The programme first aired back in 2021.

Colin, an Irish wildlife cameraman and filmmaker, previously worked on iconic BBC documentary Natural World, as well as presenting shows like Wild UK.

Turning to X, one fan tweeted: "The Wild Gardener on BB2. Two episodes showing wildlife cameraman Colin Stafford-Johnson's Irish garden was the best TV I've seen in a long time! Utterly charming, beautifully filmed and a wonderful achievement."

They echoed: "I hardly ever watch BBC but this was inspirational."

"It is stunning! Hypnotic, heartwarming TV. More please!" a third penned.

While a fourth social media user posted: "The Wild Gardener on BB2 - what a lovely watch! Can't wait for spring."

Others branded the show "wholesome" and "enchanting".
