Ahmedabad: T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its final stage. The final match between India and New Zealand to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, March 8, is not just a game for cricket fans, but a golden opportunity to create history. Team India is desperate to reverse the poor record of 0-3 in the World Cup by defeating New Zealand this time.

India’s dominance in T20 International

A total of 30 T20 international matches have been played between the two teams so far. Of these, India won 18 (two in Super Overs) and New Zealand won 11. Only one match was canceled due to rain.

India’s performance on home ground has been even better. Out of total 16 matches, 11 matches were in the name of India.

But New Zealand rules in the World Cup!

The head-to-head record of both the teams has been very disappointing for India in the history of T20 World Cup:
– Total matches: 3
– New Zealand: 3 wins
– India: 0 wins

In the 2007, 2016 and 2021 World Cups, the Kiwi team defeated India every time. This is why defeating New Zealand in the final will not just be a trophy for Team India, but will be like exorcising an old ghost.

Recent Visit – Kiwis’ Experience in India

Just before the World Cup, New Zealand played a five-match T20 series in India, in which Team India won the series 4-1. But this latest experience of playing in India in white-ball format can prove beneficial for New Zealand.

Performance of both teams in this World Cup

this time Talking about the World Cup performance, India has reached the finals with only one defeat. Talking about New Zealand, the team had to face defeat from South Africa and England, but the journey till the final was strong.

Now the question is, will Team India be able to change the record of 0-3 in the World Cup to 1-3 on the basis of home ground, excellent form and overall record of 18-11? Or will New Zealand defeat India and capture the trophy for the fourth time?
