Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may have once enjoyed being friends with billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, however their past friendship only seems to be causing him a headache these days. Over the last few months, Andrew's association with the sex offender has seen him experience the ultimate fall from grace, by losing his royal titles, being evicted from his Royal Lodge home, and even being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

While Andrew is currently under investigation, it is believed he has always denied any wrongdoing and accusations against him. Andrew has also expressed regret about his friendship with Epstein in the past.

However, while Andrew may have realised that being friends with Epstein was a mistake too little too late, it seems his late father, Prince Philip, always had suspicions that it wasn't a good idea.

This is because Philip was reportedly always aware of wealthy people wanting to take advantage of royal connections.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun: "[Diplomats] are universally saying that he (Andrew) was rude, entitled and only spoke to the people he wanted to speak to. And I spoke to so many people over the years, not inquiring, but they wanted to tell me how awful he was."

According to Seward, Philip warned his son about what he described as "seedy billionaires."

She said: "Prince Philip saw straight through his son. He used to yell at him, saying, 'I warned you about seedy billionaires looking for a pet royal to elevate their own status!'

Andrew previously claimed in a BBC Newsnight interview that he ceased his friendship with Epstein in 2010; however, the Epstein files appear to show that the pair were in contact after this.

This includes emails exchanged between Andrew and Epstein, even after Epstein was first sentenced for child sex offences.

Appearing in the Epstein files does not indicate any wrongdoing.
