How to hide online activity on Instagram?

Many times we use Instagram just to watch Reels or read messages, but because of our online presence we feel compelled to respond. If you don’t want your Instagram activity to be visible to anyone, you need to turn off a feature. Which feature of Instagram?

When you are active on Instagram, a green dot appears near your profile. This is called ‘Active Status’ feature. This feature lets your followers see how actively you are currently engaged on the app. This feature can be turned off in a few easy steps.

Why is it beneficial to turn off Active Status?

Active Status is active by default in Instagram. If you turn it off:

• No one will be able to know whether you are online or not,
• Information about your last activation will not be displayed,
• You won’t feel pressured to answer to anyone.

However, when you turn off Active Status, you also won’t be able to see whether your friends are online or not.

How to turn off Active Status?

Follow these steps to turn it off on an Android device:

• Open the Instagram app.
• Go to the profile page by tapping on your profile photo.
• Click on the three lines menu at the top right.
• Now go to ‘Settings and Activity’.
• Select the ‘Messages and story replies’ option.
• Tap on ‘Show Activity Status’.
• Now turn off the toggle.

Follow this procedure to turn off Active Status on iPhone:

• Open the Instagram app.
• Go to your profile.
• Tap on the three lines menu at the top.
• Go to ‘Settings and Activity’.
• ‘Messages and story replies’ चुनें।
• Tap on ‘Show Activity Status’.
• Turn the toggle off.

To turn it off on Instagram web, take the following steps:

• Open instagram.com in your browser and login.
• Click on ‘More’ option in the menu.
• Open ‘Settings’.
• Go to ‘Messages and story replies’.
• Click on ‘Show Activity Status’.
• Turn the toggle off.

After these procedures, no one will be able to see when you were active on Instagram.
