New Delhi: According to high-ranking government officials, there will be no increase in petrol and diesel prices for the time being, even as international crude oil prices have surpassed USD 100 per barrel.

The government is actively monitoring the fluctuations in global oil markets, but there are currently no plans to adjust retail fuel prices. Oil marketing firms are expected to manage the existing cost pressures for now.

The rise in crude prices is attributed to escalating tensions in West Asia, which have raised alarms about global energy supply stability.

In a related development, the minimum waiting period for booking a domestic LPG cylinder refill has been extended from 21 days to 25 days to curb hoarding.

Typically, an average household uses 7-8 LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg annually and generally does not require a refill in less than six weeks. The adjustment in the refill booking period aims to prevent hoarding and the creation of artificial shortages in the market.

Officials have assured that oil companies maintain a sufficient stock of LPG.
