Fans of Death in Paradise issued the same complaint as the drama moved away from Saint Marie. The 15th season of the long-running detective drama is currently airing on BBC One, with DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) continuing to investigate a string of mysterious deaths in Saint Marie.

Shantol Jackson, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, and Élizabeth Bourgine also star as Naomi Thomas, Sebastian Rose, and Catherine Bordey, respectively. The new season has also welcomed a new sergeant called Mattie Fletcher (Catherine Garton), as well as several star-studded guest actors.

That's not all, as Don Warrington notably returned to the show as Selwyn Patterson this year, after the commissioner appeared to leave at the end of season 14.

Death in Paradise fans were less than impressed after the BBC pulled last week's episode due to live coverage of the FA Cup. The latest episode aired on Monday (March 9) instead, with Selwyn and Naomi travelling to Antigua after Mervin got himself into trouble.

At the start of the episode, Mervin stumbled across a crime scene when he went in search of his brother, Solomon (Daniel Ward), in Antigua.

After walking into a remote cabin, Mervin found a local businessman who had been shot. The detective was soon struck over the head by his brother, who quickly tied Mervin up. Solomon and his associate Cheech McCarthy (Julian Rhind-Tutt) both swore that the other was responsible for the crime, and they refused to let Mervin go until each one had convinced him of their account.

Elsewhere, Sterling Fox (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) made his return to the show, as Selwyn and Naomi began their investigation into Mervin's disappearance. "Why are you here, Mr Fox?" Selwyn asked, to which Sterling explained that he was given a job in Antigua as an officer in training.

Selwyn and Naomi's anger rose as Sterling continued to get in their way, before the trainee officer arrested the pair for "stealing" his vehicle.

However, BBC viewers weren't impressed with the latest episode, as they felt that not much excitement took place like the usual jam-packed instalments.

"We're only 15 minutes in and I already think this is the worst episode ever. Hope it picks up soon," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added: "Well this interesting. Any chance of anything happening anytime soon?" while a third said: "Is Mervin spending the entire episode tied to a chair?"

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "This is awful," with another similarly sharing: "Script writers I have soooooo many questions."

Meanwhile, other fans found themselves going through a range of emotions as the drama unfolded, with one person admitting: "Mervin about to have me bawling my eyes out at 9:36pm on a random Monday." Another viewer wrote: "I swear, if they don't solve this soon then there'll be another murder and we all know who the victim and perpetrators will be," while a third said: "Loving #DeathInParadise worth the wait."
