Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore 1947 has been in the news for a while. Many news reports stated that the film's title has been changed from Lahore 1947 to Batwara 1947. The title Lahore 1947 sparked controversy after concerns were raised that an Indian film named after a Pakistani city might not resonate well with Indian audiences.

However, looks like that is not true and the film's title remains as is.

Lahore 1947 title not changed, confirms Aamir Khan

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Lahore 1947 producer Aamir Khan refuted the rumours and said that the title has not been changed. Aamir Khan said, "Where did you hear that? No, the title of our film has not changed. As of now, it is Lahore 1947, and that’s how I would like it to be.”

Lahore 1947 is based on Professor Asghar Wajahat's drama, Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. Produced by Aamir Khan, the film is helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

A few days ago, many news reports quoted journalist Vicky Lalwani. He had previously revealed that the decision to change the name of the film was taken last week. As per reports, the team wanted to put forth a larger emotion and cater to the tragedy of the 1947 Partition rather than just focusing on Lahore.

Sunny Deol on how Lahore 1947's idea was born

During an interview with Zoom, Sunny Deol shared how the idea of Lahore 1947 came to life. “It has been a subject Rajkumar Santoshi and I have been discussing over the years. We would keep trying to execute it," the Border 2 star shared. “Obviously, after Gadar, it became possible. Aamir came to me and said that he wants to make this project. Later, everything was a yes to me."

Sunny Deol's Lahore 1947 will clash with Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan at the box office.

Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have collaborated in the 90s to deliver some of the actor’s career-defining films like Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993) and Ghatak (1996).
