How expensive will it beA senior NHAI official told Navbharat Times that the NHAI annual pass will become more expensive starting April 1, the first day of the upcoming financial year 2026-27. When asked how much the increase would be, he said the increase could be between ₹75 and ₹100. This pass currently costs ₹3,000.
Why will it be expensive?Just as NHAI tolls increase every year from April 1st, the same applies to annual passes. The increase in toll rates, or annual passes, is based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation . NH tolls increase in line with the annual WPI index increase throughout the year. Similarly, this year, the annual pass rate will increase by approximately ₹100.
What is Annual Pass?For the convenience of those who frequently travel on the National Highways (NHs), an annual pass scheme was introduced on August 15th of last year. Currently, a pass is issued for ₹3,000, which is valid at toll plazas on any National Highway (NH) or National Expressway (NE) in the country. After purchasing this pass, vehicle owners can pass through 200 toll plazas for one year or without paying any fee. If you cross 200 toll plazas before the completion of one year, the pass will expire before that date.
Who can buy the annual pass?The NHAI Annual Pass can be purchased by anyone who owns a private or personal car, jeep, or van. Owners of commercial vehicles or freight vehicles cannot purchase it. This pass can be purchased through the Highway Travel app and the NHAI portal.
