Sometimes claiming to have won the war, sometimes saying it has just begun...Contradictions in Trump's statements in 10 days

US President Donald Trump is continuously making such statements regarding the ongoing war against Iran, due to which the situation seems to be becoming more complicated instead of becoming clearer. He said that America has won this war in many ways, but complete victory has not been achieved yet. It was not clear from his statements as to when America wants to end this war and what is its ultimate goal.

On Monday, Trump held a 35-minute press conference in Doral city of Florida. At that time, oil prices were above $100 per barrel and many allied countries in the Middle East feared that the conflict could spread further. Trump's aim was to calm the world markets and assure his allies that America had a clear plan to end this war. However, Trump did not reveal any clear plan in the press conference. Instead, it was emphasized that the US military has destroyed Iran's military power to a great extent.

The war is almost over: Trump

Earlier, Trump told CBS News in a phone call interview that this war is almost completely over. But when reporters asked him if that meant the war could end this week, he replied, No, but soon, I think soon.

When reporters asked him why he described the war as almost over, while his Defense Minister said it was just the beginning, Trump said both things could be true. Immediately after this he said that this could also be the beginning of the creation of a new country. However, before this Trump and his advisors have clearly said that America will not be involved in the process of nation building i.e. creating a new country in Iran.

Trump backtracks again in new interview

on tuesday In an interview given to Fox News Trump has said that talks with Iran regarding the agreement are possible. However, everything will depend on the conditions on which Iran will be ready to negotiate. Trump's statements have been seen changing several times in the last ten days. Trump said that we can call it a big success now or we can go further. And we will go further. Addressing Republican supporters, he said, we have won in many ways, but we have not won that much yet.

Democrat leaders immediately reacted to these statements of Trump. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said that Trump's press conference shows that he has neither a strategy nor a clear plan for the future. During the press conference, Trump also said that he can relax the restrictions on selling oil to some countries to calm the oil market. This is different from his earlier policy, because earlier he was increasing pressure on Russia's oil exports so that the Ukraine war could end.
