New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a prize money of Rs 131 crore for the Indian team that wins the Men’s T20 World Cup for the third time. This prize money will be distributed among 15 players, coaching staff and other support staff.
According to sources, the players of the Suryakumar Yadav-led team are set to get a major share of the prize money, while the prize money for the support staff members will be decided according to their position. This amount is Rs 6 crore more than the Rs 125 crore given to the Rohit Sharma-led champion team in 2024. “The Board once again congratulates the players, support staff members and selectors on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in a statement.
India won this prestigious trophy by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. They are the first team to successfully defend the title in the T20 World Cup. The Indian team won this tournament for the third time. It became the first team to achieve this feat, which also shows its dominance in this shorter format of the game.
